"Porky's Revenge" - Anyone else notice the questionable FX?

Okay, so I just re-watched "Porky's Revenge" for, like, the millionth time. Pure nostalgia, I admit it. But as much as I love the cheese factor and the whole '80s vibe, I gotta ask: did anyone else ever notice how... bad some of the special effects are? Specifically, that scene where Porky's car is supposedly sinking in the swamp? It's so obviously a miniature, and the water looks like it has, like, food coloring added to it. I get it, '80s movies were often low budget, but some of the effects in this film are laughably bad, even for the time. Even worse is the sound, with fake gator noises added throughout and so much echo. I wonder what software or studio did the sound effects? It takes me out of the movie every single time and makes me wonder what they were thinking! Also, on a related note, wasn't the sound design a little inconsistent? Some scenes, the foley work is actually pretty decent (the basketball game sounds were kinda convincing), but then you get moments like Porky falling into that pit and the sound is way off. Maybe they ran out of budget towards the end? Anyone have any behind-the-scenes info on this stuff? I'd love to hear it.
