Talk to me, Goose! My thoughts on Top Gun (1986)

Okay, so I finally got around to watching the original Top Gun (yeah, I know, I'm late to the party lol). And honestly? I kinda get the hype. I wasn't expecting to be that into it, but damn, those aerial scenes are legit insane! Like, how did they even film that?! Seriously, mad props to the camera crew. Obviously, it's super cheesy in parts. I mean, Maverick's whole 'rebel pilot' thing is a little much sometimes, and the romance with Charlie felt kinda forced? But I gotta admit, Tom Cruise has charisma for DAYS. And Iceman (Val Kilmer) is lowkey iconic. That rivalry was actually pretty compelling, even if it was a bit over-the-top. What got me the most, though? The feels. Didn't expect to get choked up over Goose's, ahem, untimely departure... damn, that was rough. The funeral scene hit hard, ngl. Overall, I'd say it's definitely worth a watch if you're into action movies, 80s nostalgia, or just wanna see Tom Cruise looking ridiculously cool. It's not a perfect movie by any means, but it's definitely entertaining. Plus, the soundtrack is killer! I've had "Danger Zone" stuck in my head all day. Def gonna check out Maverick now, but I'm nervous it won't live up to the hype. Anyone seen it and willing to talk about it? Spill the tea! Anyone else think that maybe Maverick should have chilled out a little and listened to Viper more? Just sayin'...
