Castle in the Sky: Sheeta's real power isn't the crystal!
Okay, so I've watched Castle in the Sky like a million times (no exaggeration). And I've always been fixated on the levitation stone and how it connects Sheeta to Laputa. But I'm starting to think the stone isn't everything. Like, it's a key, sure, but Sheeta herself has something special going on that's being completely glossed over. Think about it: right when she almost falls from the airship, plants GROW to catch her! Then, later, the robot in Laputa instantly recognizes her and, instead of attacking, protects her. It's like, the plants and the robots are responding to something IN her, not just the stone she's wearing. Like, she has inherent magic and connection to nature. It's almost like she's a plant whisperer! Okay, that's a bit OTT maybe, but I think there's something more to her lineage than just being a Laputian princess. It makes me wonder if the Laputians, before they went all tech-crazy, had some kind of symbiotic relationship with nature. Maybe Sheeta is a descendant of the last people who still understood that connection. Muska is only interested in the power of Laputa for world domination, but Sheeta just wants to protect it. Maybe the stone is just a focus point but her true power lies internally. I'm super interested in your thoughts! Is it a stretch or does anyone else see it too? Also, small detail I noticed on another rewatch: the way the robots gently handle the fox-squirrel. So cute and definitely supports my theory that Laputa has a soft spot for nature!
