THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE! (and Highlander is still pretty awesome)

Okay, so I just rewatched Highlander (the OG from '86) and dude, it's still a trip. I know, I know, the effects are kinda janky now, but come ON! Swords, Sean Connery in a freakin' kilt, and QUEEN doing the soundtrack? What's not to love?! Seriously, the music is like, 80% of why that movie is so epic. Like, every time Connor's about to chop someone's head off, BOOM, Queen just gets it. The Kurgan, though? Clancy Brown totally nailed the bad guy. He's just pure, unadulterated evil in a metal-studded trench coat. I always get a kick out of the scenes where he's just screwing with people. And Connor, played by Christopher Lambert (bless his heart), is just trying to live his immortal life, find love, and prevent the Kurgan from winning "The Prize". It's all so ridiculous but I love it. And can we talk about the quickenings? Talk about cheesy 80's special effects, haha! Like, lightning just exploding everywhere? But that first quickening when he kills the other dude in the parking garage in NYC? Iconic. I still get chills (good chills!). Plus, New York in the 80's looks so gritty and cool. Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but this movie is a total comfort watch. Anyone else still rocking out to "Princes of the Universe" and secretly wishing they were immortal (but maybe without all the sword fighting)? Let me know your fave Highlander moments!
