Highlander: What if the Prize isn't what we think?
Okay, so I've been rewatching Highlander (again, don't judge) and something struck me. We all assume 'The Prize' is ultimate power, right? Immortality + omniscience or whatever. But what if... it's something else entirely? Like, what if it's the ability to end the game? Think about it: Connor is obviously tired of fighting. Dude's been doing it for centuries! And Kurgan? He's pure chaotic evil, but even he seems bored. 'I have something to say: It's better to burn out than to fade away!' Sounds like someone who's been doing this forever and is just looking for a good exit! Hear me out. What if the 'Prize' isn't some cosmic thing, but the understanding (and the ability) to finally stop the Immortals from being born in the first place? We're told they are 'born' not created, meaning this cycle has been going on for millennia. Imagine being the one guy who can break the curse, so to speak, and FINALLY let yourself (and everyone else!) just... die. Free will to just be born, live, and die like normal humans. The Watchers are obsessed with documenting, but never interfering. What if they know more than they let on? Maybe they know the Prize isn't power but freedom, and that's why they remain objective observers. This also could explain why the Kurgan wants the Prize so badly: because he’s scared of it! If what he truly wants is eternal violence and mayhem, the last thing he’d want is a way for it all to end. Just a thought that's been bugging me. What do you guys think? Any other insane 'Highlander' theories out there?
