Okay, Hear Me Out: Is Highlander Secretly a Time Loop Movie?

Alright, alright, settle down, fellow insomniacs. I just finished Highlander AGAIN (it was on cable, what else am I gonna do, organize my sock drawer?), and I've got this theory percolating that's either genius or completely bonkers. So, Connor MacLeod, right? Immortal dude chopping heads for centuries... We all know the drill. But what if the 'Gathering' isn't just about these immortals fighting for the Prize... what if it's a repeating event? Like, a cosmic glitch in the fabric of reality? Think about it. The Kurgan is always the bad guy, right? Big, brutal, wants to rule everything. Even if Connor wins, what's to stop another ultra-evil immortal from popping up next time the Gathering rolls around? And Ramirez... Man, Ramirez is COOL, no question. Sean Connery wielding a katana? Yes, please! But he always dies. He teaches Connor, Connor gets close to him, BAM! Dead. Seems awfully convenient for the Kurgan to keep clearing the field for the big showdown in NYC, right? It's like a pre-set path the immortals are doomed/destined to follow. And the prize itself? 'Power beyond imagination'? Maybe it's not about ruling humanity or getting superpowers, maybe it's about resetting the loop. Maybe Connor's victory gives him the ability to start the whole cycle over. He gets to live a 'normal' life after the Queen track, which is fine (and actually kinda boring when you think about it), but maybe deep down, the universe is already setting the stage for the next Gathering. Even Brenda's death is kinda sus, if I'm being honest. Could be an element of the 'fixed' events of the loop. Just something that has to happen in every cycle.... I know, I know, it's a stretch. But late-night thoughts are weird, man. Plus, who knows what the director intended? Probably not this, lol. But it's fun to speculate, right? What do you guys think? Am I onto something, or should I just go back to watching paint dry? Maybe I should stick to more current movies LOL
