Labyrinth: Was Sarah Actually... Asleep?

Okay, so I just re-watched Labyrinth for like, the millionth time (don't judge, David Bowie in tight pants is a national treasure, lol). And I had a thought. What if the whole darn thing was just a really elaborate dream? I mean, think about it. She's super angsty about having to babysit Toby, right? And then BOOM, Goblin King. It's almost TOO convenient. Like her teenage drama just manifested into a full-blown fantasy world. There are so many clues, too! The labyrinth itself is like, a giant maze of her own insecurities and problems. The Helping Hands trying to throw her down the oubliette? Total representation of her feeling overwhelmed and trapped. Ludo's need for friendship? Maybe that's Sarah wishing she had a more supportive friend group. And don't even get me started on Hoggle. He's clearly just a grumpy version of her own conscience, constantly trying to hold her back but secretly wanting her to succeed. Even the ballroom scene feels... off. Like it's trying to distract her from her real responsibilities. It's all sparkly and pretty, but ultimately meaningless. Plus, the Junk Lady literally tries to bury her in her own forgotten memories and possessions. That's some serious dream logic right there! So yeah, my theory is that the whole movie is just Sarah working through her issues in a dream world. It explains the weirdness, the over-the-top characters, and why Jareth is so darn invested in her succeeding (or failing!). Maybe she never actually summoned him to take Toby, but just dreamed it after reading the book. What do you guys think? Am I totally off my rocker, or does this kinda make sense?
