Short Circuit Conspiracy Theory? (Hear me out!)

Okay, so last night we watched Short Circuit (again lol) and I started thinking about something kinda weird. We all know Number 5 gets struck by lightning and suddenly he's sentient, right? But what if...what if that wasn't the only thing that made him "alive"? I'm thinking maybe Howard (the creator) had already programmed something into Number 5's architecture that could have been activated by a surge of energy. Like, a dormant AI personality. Think about it! Number 5 isn't just learning, he's yearning. He wants to read, experience, explore. He has fears and desires! Where does that all come from just a lightning bolt? I think Newton was subconsciously, or consciously, building a robot with the potential for true AI, and the lightning just happened to be the catalyst. Maybe that's why he's so desperate to get him back - not just to protect his company, but maybe also to find out what he accidentally created. I mean, the scene where Number 5 is reading all the books in Stephanie's house...he's soaking it UP! It's not just processing data; he’s understanding, reacting emotionally. And the whole "disassemble" thing? He's afraid of dying! A simple bot wouldn't process existential dread like that, y’know? This isn’t just about circuits malfunctioning; I think it’s deeper. Anyway, just a thought! Let me know if I'm totally off my rocker haha. Johnny 5 is ALIVE...or maybe just had some secret code implanted by his maker?
