The Color of Money - Did Anyone Else Find This Movie Surprisingly... Engaging?
Okay, so I watched "The Color of Money" the other night. I know, I know, it's a little older, but I'd heard good things. I wasn't sure about pool movies, really. But wow, it was way more captivating than I expected! Paul Newman is just... magnetic, even playing a retired... well, kinda washed-up guy. The whole dynamic between Fast Eddie and Vincent (Tom Cruise) was super interesting. Like, a really skewed father-son thing, almost? Anyone else get that vibe? The scene where Vincent just goes completely wild in that pool hall, racking up the points and just getting lost in the game? That felt so real! It was kinda scary, too, seeing how easily he could get carried away. And Eddie's frustration watching him, just knowing he could be so much better if he just listened... I actually felt bad for Eddie! I mean, he wasn't exactly a saint, but you could see he genuinely wanted Vincent to succeed (and maybe relive his own glory days a bit, lol). Ultimately, I think "The Color of Money" is about more than just pool. It's about mentorship, about greed, and about finding meaning in life. I really liked it! I do have one question, though: Do you think Eddie actually let Vincent win in the end? He looks like he's lost on purpose, but then again, maybe I'm overthinking it. What do you all think?
