"The Money Pit" - Anyone Else Find it Hilariously Relatable?

Okay, so I just rewatched "The Money Pit" (1986) and I'm still cracking up! I know it's a silly, over-the-top comedy, but as someone who's dealt with some... let's just say challenging home renovations, it hits a little too close to home sometimes, lol. Seriously, who HASN'T had that moment where you think you're getting a steal, and then BAM! The walls start crumbling, the plumbing explodes, and you're pretty sure your contractor is actively trying to bankrupt you? Shelley Long and Tom Hanks are brilliant, but it's the house itself that's the real star of that film. That scene where the bathtub crashes through the floor still makes me gasp-laugh every time. And their reaction to the front door falling down? Gold, pure gold. My question is, has anyone else seen themselves in Walter and Anna's struggle? Any particularly relatable moments or horror stories from your own home owning experiences? I'm dying to know I'm not alone in thinking this movie is more documentary than fiction sometimes. 😂 Also, did anyone else think it was kinda weird that Max was so eager to get that house off his hands, even for cheap? What do you think he knew they weren't telling? And seriously, the director wasn't credited? That seems... odd. Anyone know the REAL story on who directed it?
