Hannah and Her Sisters: Is Dianne Wiest the Real Star?

Okay, so I just re-watched Hannah and Her Sisters and I have so many thoughts. I know everyone fawns over Mia Farrow and Barbara Hershey (and rightly so, they're great!), but Dianne Wiest as Holly? She just steals every. single. scene. The neurotic energy, the disastrous attempts at acting, the sheer desperation to find something in her life... it's just mesmerizing. I think it's because she's so flawed, you know? Makes her so much more relatable than perfectly poised Hannah. And speaking of relatable, does anyone else cringe-laugh at Mickey's hypochondria? Woody Allen's character is always so... Woody Allen, but the scene where he's convinced he's dying and going into the health food store to find salvation? It's darkly funny, but also kind of sad. He's so lost and searching! But back to Holly, I honestly think her story is the most compelling. Her journey to finding herself, even if it's messy and awkward, is just fascinating to watch. I'm particularly interested in the scene where Hannah tries to help Holly with her catering business. The tension is so palpable, and you can see the underlying resentment Holly has for Hannah's seemingly perfect life. But is it really perfect? Or is Hannah just better at projecting that image? That's what got me thinking. So, my question is, am I alone in thinking Dianne Wiest gives the best performance? And does anyone else feel like Holly's struggles are the most compelling, even compared to the romantic drama between Hannah, Lee, and Elliot? What did you think about everyone, specifically the three sisters? Let's discuss!
