¡Three Amigos!: Were They ACTUALLY Good Actors?

Okay, so I just rewatched ¡Three Amigos! for like, the billionth time, and something struck me. We all laugh at how clueless and naive they are, right? Like, how they think El Guapo is just misunderstood, and that shooting blanks will solve everything. But what if... what if they're actually amazing actors, even better than they seem, and that's the whole joke? Think about it: they're silent film stars, so their whole career is based on exaggeration and physical comedy. When they first arrive in Santo Poco, their 'heroic' performance is so over-the-top it almost works! And the whole 'Singing Bush' scene? That's pure absurdist genius. Maybe they're not intentionally being brave, but they're committed to the role of being brave. They're so immersed in their characters that they accidentally become competent. Like, remember Dusty's rope trick at the end? He totally flubs it, but then manages to save the day anyway. Is it luck? Or is it that years of rehearsing rope tricks on stage actually gave him SOME practical skill, even if he's too dumb to realize it? Maybe they just have latent abilities brought out by the pressure of a real-life situation. It also makes you wonder how good they were in their movies if that's what 'bad' looks like, lol. I dunno, maybe I'm reading too much into it (I do that, ask my therapist), but the idea that they're secretly brilliant comedic actors who are just too oblivious to realize their own talent makes the whole movie even funnier to me! What do you guys think? Am I totally off base?
