Critters: Furry Little Murder Balls of 80s Awesomeness!
Okay, so I finally got around to watching Critters (1986) and OMG I'm kicking myself for waiting this long! How did I miss this glorious piece of 80s cheese?! Seriously, it's like Gremlins but even more bonkers. These little furballs from space land on a Kansas farm and just start EATING EVERYTHING. I mean, they look kinda cute at first, but then those teeth pop out and they start talking (sorta) and you realize these guys are legit trouble. The bounty hunters are chef's kiss! This dude, Ug, can change his face and at one point becomes a rock star. A ROCK STAR! Like, what?! I was dying. And that scene in the church? Forget about it! The whole movie is just a wild ride of practical effects, cheesy dialogue, and, yeah, those critters just chomping on anything that moves. I gotta say, this is one of those movies where the low budget actually adds to the charm. You can tell they were just having a blast making it, and that energy totally comes through. It's not gonna win any awards, but if you're looking for a fun, silly creature feature to watch with your friends, this is it. Just grab some popcorn and prepare to laugh your butt off. Also, the practical effects still hold up surprisingly well! Way better than some of the CGI garbage we get today. Highly recommend if you're into 80s horror-comedy. It def scratched that itch for me and im already thinking about watching the sequels lol. Anyone else a Critters fan? What's your fave scene? Lmk!
