TCM 2: Is Chop-Top Lowkey the Real Brains of the Operation?
Okay, so I just rewatched Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (again, lol) and I'm convinced Chop-Top is way more important than anyone gives him credit for. Like, everyone focuses on Leatherface and Drayton Sawyer (The Cook), but Chop-Top's got this crazy, almost artistic vibe to him? Think about it: he's constantly quoting movies and using that lighter on his own head injury – it's messed up, but there's something deliberate about it. He's not just a mindless killer; he's curating chaos, you know? My theory is he's actually manipulating the whole family. Drayton's obviously got the business brain (gotta have that BBQ sauce!), and Leatherface is the muscle, but Chop-Top provides the ideas. Remember the scene where he's radioing Stretch with that creepy stuff? That feels way too planned and strategic for just some random crazy dude. And the way he eggs Leatherface on? Nah, he's pulling strings. Plus, he's always got that razor, which kinda feels like a metaphor for his sharp mind, despite the, uh, head situation. It's almost like Tobe Hooper (I think he directed?) was trying to give us a glimpse into the mind of a true horror artist, but obscured by all the gore and screaming. IDK maybe I'm reaching but it's been bugging me for days now lol. Anyone else feel like Chop-Top is secretly the mastermind behind the Sawyer clan's mayhem?
