Luxo Jr. - anyone else tear up a little? 🥺
Okay, so I'm a little late to the party with this one, but we finally watched "Luxo Jr." with the kids and I was not prepared for how much I'd feel! It's just a short, but seeing the little lamp, Luxo Jr., discovering the ball and then gleefully bouncing it around... my heart just melted. It's such a simple premise, but the animation is so expressive. You can really feel his excitement and then his disappointment when the ball pops. Honestly, I felt bad for the little guy, haha! My youngest, Lily (she's 4), was absolutely captivated. She kept saying "Lampy! Lampy!" every time Luxo Jr. bounced the ball. Then, when Luxo Sr. shook his head disapprovingly after the ball popped, she gave me the same look! I swear, kids pick up on everything. The ending, when Luxo Jr. brings in like, a HUNDRED times the amount of balls, was hilarious. My husband and I both burst out laughing, and Lily was just clapping. So cute. It's amazing how Pixar could tell such a complete story without any dialogue. It's all in the movement and the music. I think it really highlights how important those non-verbal cues are, especially when you're dealing with toddlers and trying to understand what they're feeling. Anyway, definitely recommend this one for a quick little dose of joy. It's short enough to hold their attention and sweet enough to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I almost docked off a point for the ball bursting but then Jr's perseverance won me over, lol. Anyone else have a soft spot for this short? Or any recommendations for similar, family-friendly shorts to check out? Hit me with them!
