80s Robots Blowing Stuff Up! Transformers: The Movie Thoughts

Okay, so last night me, Liam, and Chloe finally watched The Transformers: The Movie (1986). I know, I know, HUGE gap in my 80s movie knowledge, right? Liam was practically vibrating with excitement, lol. Chloe was mostly there for the cheesy factor, and honestly, she wasn't disappointed. It's kinda wild how much stuff they just BLOW UP in this movie. Like, Optimus Prime's death scene? Seriously, that was brutal. Even Chloe was like, 'Wow, that's... a lot for a kids movie'. I'm not gonna lie, I kinda teared up. Don't judge! Unicron! Holy moly, that planet-eating dude was terrifying. Orson Welles voicing him just MADE it. Also, hot take maybe, but I kinda liked Hot Rod? I know, I know, he's blamed for Prime's death, but like, he redeemed himself as Rodimus Prime, right? Plus, the animation for its time was surprisingly good. Some of the movements are a little clunky now, but for '86, it's impressive. The soundtrack is straight fire, too. I've had 'The Touch' stuck in my head all day. Overall, it was a fun, albeit kinda bonkers, watch. It definitely has a different feel than the original cartoon show. It's darker, grittier, and just plain MORE. We’re definitely planning on watching it again sometime soon. I think it's defnitely worth all the hype! And all the memes, of course. I could feel the inner child in me leaping for joy. Did anyone else cry during Optimus' death? Be honest!
