Crossroads (1986): Ralph Macchio AND Blues Legends? Sign Me Up!

Okay, so I just re-watched Crossroads from '86, and I gotta say, it's a total blast of cheesy awesome. Like, Ralph Macchio post-Karate Kid trying to be all bluesy? I'm here for it. Seriously, the dude can shred (or at least looks like he can!), playing classical guitar and pretends to play electric guitar. I know it's kinda ridiculous, but the soundtrack is legitimately amazing. Ry Cooder is a god! And Willie Brown, played by Joe Seneca, is just perfect as the old bluesman. Their dynamic is actually pretty sweet, even if it's a little stereotypical at times. The whole "devil at the crossroads" legend is played up HEAVY, which I honestly dig. The ending guitar duel is pretty epic, even if it's a little over-the-top. You know, when Macchio has to outplay Vai to get out of the deal with the devil. So good! Look, it's not gonna win any Oscars, and the plot is kinda predictable. The romance subplot feels super tacked-on and unnecessary. But honestly, it's just a fun movie. If you're into blues music, or just wanna see Ralph Macchio in a totally different role pre Karate Kid reboot, give it a watch. I mean, it kind of has a Karate Kid vibe, if Daniel Larusso joined a blues band instead of learning Karate. Anyone else a fan? Am I totally alone in my love for this cheesy goodness? What do you guys think about the slide guitars during the final duel – hot or not? Let me know!
