"The Fugitives" - Underrated 80s Action Gold!

Okay, so I just re-watched "The Fugitives" (1986), and man, this movie is pure 80s action cheese in the best possible way! Seriously, has anyone else seen this one? It's got that perfect blend of 'wrong place, wrong time' scenario with a dude just tryin' to go straight... and everything goes sideways. Lucas, the ex-con, gets dragged into a robbery, and nobody believes he's NOT involved. I'm a sucker for that trope! What really gets me going about these older action flicks is the practical effects. No CGI garbage here! The car chase scene, especially when he's dodging those cop cars... you KNOW they were really driving like maniacs. And you gotta love Depardieu as Lucas. He's got that rugged, world-weary thing down perfectly. His frustration with the situation is so palpable. And the robber Pignon is so goofy and pathetic that you can't help but root for both of them, even though they are technically on opposite sides. It's just good, solid entertainment. There were a couple of moments where the plot got a bit silly (i mean, its an 80s action film!), but overall, it's a super fun watch. It reminded me a lot of "Midnight Run" in tone. If you are looking for somthing with great stunts and a decent story check this one out! Anyone else seen it? What did you think? Am I alone in my love for this underappreciated gem? Maybe I am just getting old...
