Anyone else freaked out by Dolls (1986)? That marionette scene tho...
Okay, so I just rewatched Dolls (1986) for the first time in ages! I forgot how CREEPY that movie is! "Games children play, can be very, very dangerous." Seriously! I was way too young when I first saw it. The overall vibe is like… a twisted fairy tale turned into a nightmare. The old couple are unsettling enough, but those dolls? Ugh. What gets me is how genuinely evil those parents are! Like, they're practically begging for what happens to them. The dad is a total jerk and the stepmom... well, you know the line, "Heeere's Mommy!" Lol not quite. But really! Also, the random punk rockers thrown into the mix were fun. I always wondered what happened to them after the credits rolled. Did they escape? Or are they now, like, doll food or something? But the question that's been bugging me since the marionette scene (you know the one!) - Do you think the dolls are actually alive with souls or are they just, like, super magically animated? I'm leaning towards the souls thing, 'cause the movie really pushes the whole karma angle. "Actions must have consequences, that is the law!" Anyway, anyone else have some freaky memories of this flick? What's your favorite doll and why is it the creepy clown? 😂 Let's discuss!
