Children of a Lesser God - Did Anyone Else Feel... Uncomfortable?

Okay, so I finally got around to watching "Children of a Lesser God" and, whew, a LOT to unpack. Marlee Matlin is incredible, obviously, and William Hurt is solid as always. But I'm left feeling...icky? Like, the whole power dynamic thing was REALLY heavy. Specifically, the scene where James is trying to teach Sarah to speak, and it just feels so forced? Like, “Conform or be left behind” energy. I kept thinking of that line from A Few Good Men: "I strenuously object!" but in a different context. Did anyone else get that vibe? Was it supposed to be romantic or like… controlling? Maybe both? And the ending? I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it feels a little too easy, don't you think? Like, they just kind of...agree? After all that angst and conflict? I feel like “Frankly, my dear, I don't give a d***” would have been a more appropriate (but obviously VERY different) ending, haha. I'm just sayin'. I loved the complexities, but something felt off about the resolution. What did y'all think?
