Deadly Friend: Seriously, What Did I Just Watch?

Okay, so I just finished watching "Deadly Friend" (1986), and I'm...baffled? I saw it listed as 'so bad it's good', but honestly, I'm not even sure it achieves that level. The premise itself is wild: a kid genius shoves a robot brain into his dead neighbor girl after some neighborhood bully pushes her down the stairs. Then she starts killing people. I mean, WHAT? Kristy Swanson tries to make the best of it. Before the...transformation.. she's genuinely sweet as Samantha. But after? It's just...stiff. I understand she's supposed to be robotic, but the performance mostly comes off as awkward and vacant. It's such a waste of her talent, especially knowing what she'd go on to do later in her career. The standout, weirdly, is probably Michael Sharrett as Tom. He sells the 'obsessed genius' thing surprisingly well. Plus, the basket ball scene... you know the one. It's not exactly acting brilliance but it surely is something. A whole lotta crazy, actually! Ultimately, "Deadly Friend" is a bizarre, uneven mess. I honestly don't know who to recommend it to. If you're a HUGE Kristy Swanson fan, maybe? Or a fan of truly bizarre 80s horror? I'm not sure 'entertaining' is the right word, but it's definitely...an experience. I think the director, Wes Craven, didn't take this one seriously. I bet he's even embarrassed about it lol Like, I'm genuinely curious—did anyone else actually ENJOY this movie? Or did we all just collectively hallucinate it? I need answers!
