School of Thieves - So Bad It's Good? (Maybe?)

Okay, Emflix here, back with another random movie night pick. This time it was "School of Thieves" (1986). Gotta be honest, I went in blind. All I knew was it had Paolo Villaggio, Lino Banfi, AND Massimo Boldi?? That's like, a triple threat of goofy Italian comedy right there! But wow, what a ride... Seriously, the plot is thinner than my patience while waiting for my pizza to arrive. Rich uncle, idiot nephews, inheritance shenanigans... we've all seen it a million times. And the jokes? A lot of them fell flat for me. Sometimes it felt like they were just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. But here's the thing... I still laughed? Like, a lot. There's something about the sheer absurdity of it all, especially the scenes with the three of them together. That one scene where they're all trying to sneak into the vault, omg, so slapstick, but it got me. So, question for anyone else who's seen this… Did anyone else feel like it was incredibly low-brow but also weirdly charming? Am I just losing it, or is there a secret sauce to this kinda dumb comedy? I'm genuinely curious if it's just nostalgic for some people, or if there's something I'm missing that makes it more than just a cheesy 80s flick. Hit me with your thoughts below!
