Predator: Still Holds Up, Even if My Dad Loves it TOO Much
Okay, so I finally rewatched Predator (1987) last night, and damn, it's still a freakin' blast. I know, I know, it's like, required viewing for any action fan, but honestly, sometimes classics are classics for a reason, ya know? The whole vibe of macho soldiers kicking ass in the jungle is just so 80s it hurts, but in the BEST way. Plus, Arnold? C'mon! He's peak Arnold in this. I seriously cracked up when he was covered in mud, yelling at the Predator like it was gonna understand English. 😂 What really gets me, though, is the suspense. Like, you think you know what's going on, just another covert op gone wrong, and then BAM! Invisible alien hunter. That first time they realize something else is out there, picking them off one by one? Chills, man. And the effects, even though they're dated, are still pretty gnarly! The Predator's cloaking tech is still pretty impressive, and the whole jungle setting is just perfect horror movie fodder, right? Makes you wonder what's actually out there in the wild... My dad is OBSESSED with this movie, which sometimes makes me want to hate it, tbh. He's always quoting it, which is...endearing, but also v. annoying. Still, I gotta admit, he has good taste in this one. I still think it's a total classic. What's everyone else's take? Am I just blinded by nostalgia, or is Predator actually as good as I remember?
