RoboCop: More Than Just Metal - Let's Talk About the '80s Style!

Okay, so I finally sat down and watched RoboCop (the OG, obvi). I knew the basics – dystopian Detroit, cyborg cop, yadda yadda. But can we talk about the vibe? Like, yeah, the violence is intense, but I was honestly distracted by some of the costume choices. Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen) is rocking some seriously high-waisted jeans and oversized blazers. Very '80s chic, even if she is chasing criminals through abandoned factories. Plus, the whole corporate greed aesthetic of OCP is nailed with those boxy suits and power ties. Very Gordon Gekko, but somehow even sleazier. And let's not forget Clarence Boddicker and his gang. They're decked out in leather jackets, ripped denim, and more chains than a Hot Topic employee. It's like a metalhead's fever dream, but somehow fits perfectly with the grime and grit of Old Detroit. Honestly, the visual contrast between the polished, robotic RoboCop and the utterly chaotic villains is just chef's kiss. I'm not gonna lie, the movie is pretty heavy, and those ED-209 malfunctions? Traumatizing. But I was also just really digging the commitment to the decade's fashion extremes. It's not a good look in most cases, but it's definitely a memorable one! Anyone else get major '80s nostalgia pangs while watching? Or am I the only one analyzing fashion during a ultraviolent crime drama, lol. Also, tiny typo, sorry! just catching it now. Meant 'ultraviolent'.
