Hellraiser: Was Frank REALLY that bad?

Okay, so last night me, Liam, and Chloe finally watched Hellraiser (1987)! I know, I know, super late to the party. Liam's been bugging us for AGES. Anyway, I have a weird theory brewing, and I need to know if I'm totally off base. So, Frank… obviously a terrible person. Like, selling-your-soul-for-intense-pleasure terrible. But here's the thing: didn't the Cenobites kinda lure him in? He was seeking experiences, pushing boundaries, but he wasn't necessarily asking for torturous hell dimensions. It's like, he opened the box thinking, 'Okay, spice things up a bit,' and BAM, instant regret. I'm not excusing him, obviously, but I think maybe the Cenobites capitalized on his hedonism more than he actively sought out what they offered. Like, he's naive, even if he's a terrible, selfish naive person, lol. Also, that resurrections sequence was WILD. The whole creepy uncle thing, trying to get Julia to get him victims? Super messed up. But it really got me thinking, like... what if the box only brings you to what you're searching for? For Frank, it was extreme sensation, and for Julia, it was passion. So, maybe it's not inherently evil, just a reflection of the opener's desires... twisted as those desires may be for some people, lmao. Anyway, just a thought! Let me know what you guys think. Am I giving Frank too much credit? Chloe thinks I'm nuts, but Liam's on the fence. Talk to me!
