The Lost Boys: Still holds up, or is it just nostalgia?

Okay, international film fanatics, Priya here! Diving back into some classics this week and re-watched "The Lost Boys" (1987). I know, I know, it's pure 80s cheese, but something about it still gets me. The whole vibe of Santa Carla as this vampire haven is so cool. I'm curious, for those who've seen it more recently (or even for the first time!), does it still hold up? Or am I just blinded by nostalgic love for Kiefer Sutherland's iconic mullet? I mean, the special effects are definitely dated, and some of the dialogue is... well, let's just say "of its time." But there's a certain charm to that, right? The soundtrack is killer, obviously. And Corey Feldman as Edgar Frog? Comedy GOLD. But beyond the surface level 80s-ness (which I admittedly adore), is there actually something deeper there? It touches on themes of fitting in, broken families, and the dangers of the unknown. Or am i just reading to into it? 😂 Specifically, I'm wondering what people think of the ending. Is it satisfying? Does it feel earned? Or does it feel a bit rushed and convenient? And the Frog brothers – were they genuinely helpful, or just kind of annoying? I'm torn! They provide comic relief, sure, but sometimes I just wanted them to chill. Tell me your thoughts! I'm dying (pun intended!) to hear what you all think.
