"The Living Daylights" - underrated or nah?

Okay, so I just re-watched "The Living Daylights" and I'm kinda torn. I always hear people saying it's one of the weaker Bond films, but I honestly think it's got a lot going for it. I mean, Timothy Dalton is a serious Bond. He's not playing around with cheesy one-liners nearly as much as Moore (love ya Roger, but...). Dalton's darker take on Bond actually felt closer to the Fleming books in some ways, which I appreciated. The whole thing felt more like a spy thriller and less like a goofy action flick. I really dug Kara Milovy (Maryam d'Abo). She wasn't just some damsel; she actually had agency and skill, even if she was a bit naive. The whole cello case/sniper rifle thing was pretty iconic, gotta admit. And the action sequences were definitely solid, especially that escape from the Soviet base. Maybe the plot gets a little convoluted with the whole arms deal and Afghanistan thing (I'm not always clear on who's betraying who, tbh lol), but it's still engaging overall. One thing that always bugged me about the movie is the score. It's got some high points, but it just doesn't feel as consistently iconic as some of the other Bond themes and scores. A View to a Kill, for example, had an amazing theme song. That being said, the score during the airfield escape is great. I feel like Dalton deserved better reception, though. Is it the best Bond? No way. But is it significantly worse than stuff like "Octopussy" or "Die Another Day"? Absolutely not. I think it's earned a bit more respect over time. Let me know what you guys think... Am I totally off base here?
