Jaws: The Revenge - It's Personal...Is It Too Personal?
Okay, so I know Jaws: The Revenge gets a lot of hate. Like, a lot. But I've been thinking... It's so bad, it's almost fascinating, right? Like a trainwreck you can't look away from. My theory? The shark genuinely has a grudge. I mean, the movie screams it: "This time, it's personal!" But what if it's not just a tagline? What if the shark is fueled by some kind of supernatural, Brody-specific vendetta? Think about it: it follows Ellen all the way to the Bahamas! That's dedication, people. And the way it roars at the end? No ordinary shark is doing that. Maybe it's possessed by the spirit of all the sharks the Brodys have killed, or something equally batshit. Am I saying it's a good movie? Absolutely not. The science is bonkers (sharks don't roar, and they definitely don't have psychic links to Ellen Brody!). But the sheer audacity of the premise, played completely straight, is almost admirable in a 'so-bad-it's-good' kind of way. And Lorraine Gary, bless her heart, is giving it her all. You gotta respect that commitment to such a… unique script. Plus, Michael Caine! I feel like he knew what he was getting into and just decided to have fun. Which is the exact attitude you need going into this film. So, what do you guys think? Is the shark just a dumb plot device, or is there a deeper, more insane explanation for its bloodlust? I'm leaning towards the insane, personally. "We're gonna need a bigger theory!"...or maybe just some stronger drinks.
