Okay, "Prince of Darkness" REALLY Messed Me Up π³
So, I watched "Prince of Darkness" last night... supposedly by John Carpenter, though honestly, I try to go in blind these days so I don't get hyped or biased! Anyway, I knew basically nothing about it except it was supposed to be horror, and wow. Just...wow. I'm still a little creeped out, lol. That whole abandoned church vibe, with the weird cult chanting outside and that glowing green liquid in the cylinder? Instant shivers! I swear I could almost smell something nasty while watching. I'm probably just imagining it but still. The thing that really got to me, though, was the dream sequences. Seriously, that distorted figure reaching out through the TV screen? I about jumped out of my skin! And the way people started acting, like possessed or something, so disturbing. Donald Pleasence being there was cool though, he always brings a serious level of gravitas, doesn't he? The science-y stuff was kinda confusing for me, about the mirror universe and all that, but honestly, the sheer dread of the situation was SO effective I didn't even care that I didn't fully understand the physics. Also, that ending... I won't spoil it but it's pretty bleak. REALLY makes you think, you know? I gotta say, itβs not a perfect movie. Some of the dialogue feels a little clunky, and I'm not sure I loved all the acting necessarily. But the overall atmosphere, the sense of impending doom... it really got under my skin. It's a slow burn, for sure, so if you're looking for jump scares every five seconds, this ain't it. But if you want something that will leave you feeling deeply unsettled and maybe even question reality a little... yeah, give "Prince of Darkness" a shot. Just maybe watch it with the lights on, okay? I'm still side-eyeing my TV right now π .
