Okay, I Have a "No Way Out" Theory and Need to Share!

So, I just re-watched "No Way Out" (1987) and the Kevin Costner/Gene Hackman tension is just chef's kiss. But I've always had this nagging feeling about it, and I think I've finally pieced together a theory that might make sense of some of the plot holes, or at least add a fun layer to it. Hear me out: What if Tom Farrell (Costner) wasn't completely in the dark about Susan's (Sean Young) relationship with David Brice (Hackman) from the very beginning? I know, I know, the movie presents it as a shocking reveal, but think about it. Farrell's incredibly sharp, moves in the highest circles of the Pentagon, and he falls HARD for Susan almost instantly. Maybe he knew something was up, a hint of powerful patronage or just the air of someone being 'kept'. Perhaps, subconsciously, he was drawn to the danger and the power dynamic? This could explain why he's willing to risk so much, so quickly, for her. It's more than just lust, it's a gamble with incredibly high stakes that he's willing to take knowing (or suspecting) the cards being played. I think it especially rings true when you consider his reaction to her death and the framing. He's devastated, obviously, but he's also incredibly focused on clearing his name. Is it just self-preservation? Maybe. But what if it's also about protecting Susan's memory and avoiding a massive scandal that would ruin everything she touched -- including him? He's not just fighting for his life, he's fighting to control the narrative and preserve a dangerous secret (that he was at least peripherally aware of). It's just a thought, and maybe I'm overthinking it, but something about Costner's performance, particularly in the scenes after Susan's death, always felt a little off. It's like he knew more than he was letting on. What do you guys think? Am I reaching, or does this theory hold water? Let me know your thoughts! Also, did anyone else chuckle at the ridiculously 80s computer graphics when they're trying to identify Yuri? It was so bad it was good lol.
