Harry and the Hendersons - Underappreciated Gem?

Okay, so my friends and I just watched "Harry and the Hendersons" for the first time in YEARS. I'd forgotten how genuinely SWEET it is! I mean, yeah, it's cheesy 80s, but in the best way possible. I think my friend Sarah was tearing up at the end when Harry had to go back to the wild. And the dad, George Henderson, is such a relatable character. Does anyone else agree he was kinda low-key obsessed with bigfoot before they even hit Harry with their car? Like, his whole hunting vibe just screamed 'I secretly want to find Bigfoot'. Speaking of hitting Harry, that scene where they're driving home with him strapped to the roof of their car... it's darkly hilarious, right? Like, morally questionable but also so funny? I felt so conflicted! 😂 Also, Lithgow really sold the whole 'OH MY GOD WE HAVE A BIGFOOT' freakout. I think the practical effects for Harry are actually really good, even now. Way better than some CGI we see today, tbh. But seriously, did anyone else think that Jacques LaFleur (the bigfoot hunter) was way too over-the-top? Like, I get he was the villain, but he felt almost cartoonish compared to the Hendersons, who felt more grounded, even given the circumstances. Was he intentionally written that way, maybe for comedic effect? Or was it just bad acting? What do you guys think? And final question: Were you team 'keep Harry' or team 'let Harry go'?! I was torn! I felt bad for the Hendersons getting attached but knew Harry belonged in the woods. Gah! So many feels!
