Roxanne: Steve Martin's nose is WILD, but did anyone else actually LIKE Chris??

Okay, so I just watched Roxanne for the first (lol, maybe second... vaguely remember it being on TV when I was a kid) time, and Steve Martin is hilarious. Like, legit LOL funny. C.D. Bales is such a good character, even with that... thing on his face. Honestly, I was cracking up every time he was around. The scene with the tennis racket and the insults? Gold. Pure gold. But honestly, the whole time I was watching, I just kept thinking, "Roxanne, girl, what are you SEEING in Chris?!?" I mean, yeah, he's cute in a dumb jock kind of way, but his personality is like, cardboard. Seriously, he can barely string a sentence together without needing help. Like, I get that C.D. is helping him write the letters, but even with that, Chris just comes across as so... bland. And Roxanne's supposed to be this super intelligent, independent woman, right? So, did anyone actually ship Roxanne and Chris? Or were we all just waiting for her to wake up and realize C.D. was the real deal the whole time? Also, did anyone think the ending felt a little rushed? Like, boom, she figures it out and suddenly they're together? I needed more build-up, man! Give me some romance! Still a fun movie, though. Solid 7/10 from me for the laughs alone.
