Creepshow 2 - That Raft Scene STILL gets me!
Okay, so, I'm re-watching Creepshow 2, and man, that "Raft" segment?! STILL freaks me out! I know it's cheesy as hell, that practical effect of The Blob is SO obviously a matress or something, but the suspense is killer. The way those kids are stuck out there, slowly getting picked off one by one... pure nightmare fuel. I'm a sucker for practical effects, and while the Blob isn't exactly Oscar-worthy, there's something so visceral about it. It's way more effective than some CGI mess, ya know? Speaking of practical, anyone know how they did that scene where the Blob... well, you know... consumes Randy? I'm guessing it's some clever camera angles and inflatable suit situation, but I'd love to see some behind-the-scenes on that. I'm all about the making-of stuff. I think the practical effects are what makes the movie work. Anyways, I also really dig "Old Chief Wood'nhead" – those zombie-like Indians are actually pretty creepy. "The Hitchhiker" is fun, but the other two segments are just… better. What do you guys think? Which story got to you the most? And any thoughts on the practical effects they used, or insight on how they did it (if you know any)? Let me know!
