Monster Squad: Underrated FX Gem & Secretly Deep?

Okay, so re-watched "The Monster Squad" last night. I know, I know, it's a cheesy 80s flick, but hear me out. As a fellow tech head, I always appreciate the practical effects, and this movie DELIVERS. Seriously, stop-motion aside (which is charming in its own right), the monster make-up is phenomenal. The Wolfman transformation? Still holds up. The Mummy's decaying face? Creepy AF. They clearly put real effort into making these monsters legitimately scary and kinda sympathetic, which is key to the movie's charm. But what got me thinking this time was the amulet. Dracula's whole plan revolves around it, right? My theory: the amulet isn't just a power source, it's a reality anchor. Think about it: Dracula's brought all these classic movie monsters into our world. Our modern world. A world where everyone thinks they're just stories. Maybe the amulet is what lets them exist here in the first place. Without it, they'd just fade back into legend, into the collective unconscious or wherever movie monsters go when they "die." It makes the Squad's mission way more important than just stopping a bad guy; they're potentially saving reality itself, preventing the complete breakdown of what's real and what's not (okay, maybe that's too deep, but still!). And that window scene, when Frankenstein's monster has that moment of connection with Phoebe? Gets me every time. I really think that scene is better acted than most serious dramas. He seems so genuinely sad! I think these are some of the best monster movie monsters, and don't you dare forget it. Plus, the line "Wolfman's got nards!" is just pure comedic gold. Don't @ me. (typo fixed lol)
