Okay, "Broadcast News"... This Movie Hit DIFFERENT.

Alright, I just watched "Broadcast News" (1987) and I'm gonna be real, I went in totally blind. I knew NOTHING about it. Like, it's a time capsule of how news was changing, and honestly, it feels like nothing's changed, but maybe gotten worse? The scene where William Hurt's character sweats on camera and decides he actually DID cry on air, even though he didn't... that was HUGE. That really solidified the idea that how something looks is more important than what actually is. The movie makes a case for, let's call them, 'the good guys' not winning... because they don't know how to play the game. It's depressing, but not in a bad way?
