Cher vs. Liam Neeson in '87: Suspect - Worth a Late-Night Watch?

Okay, so I just finished watching 'Suspect' (1987). I vaguely remembered Cher being in it, and Liam Neeson looking ridiculously young. Holy crap, Neeson was young! And yeah, Cher's rockin' the lawyer look, defending a homeless vet (who happens to be deaf and mute) accused of murdering a secretary connected to a Supreme Court Justice suicide. Heavy stuff, right? The whole thing's pretty atmospheric, very '80s D.C. vibe. I gotta say, Cher actually does a solid job here. She's got this cynical but still kinda hopeful energy that works for the public defender character. And Neeson...okay, he plays a lobbyist who helps her uncover clues. Their…connection…felt a little forced, tbh. Like, were they REALLY feeling it or was the director just like, 'Hey, hot people gotta make eyes!' The courtroom scenes were decent, but nothing groundbreaking. I did appreciate the way they portrayed the vet's isolation and helplessness. That part felt pretty real, you know? Honestly, the whole mystery kept me guessing, even though some parts felt a little clunky. Like, some of the clues felt almost too conveniently placed, you know? It's not gonna win any awards for best screenplay, but it's a solid legal thriller, if you're into that kinda thing. Good for a late-night watch when you don't wanna think too hard. Plus, seeing Cher and Neeson in their prime is always a win. Anyone else seen this one? Thoughts? Was I the only one getting a weird romantic vibe between Cher and Neeson? Or was that just my sleep-deprived brain playing tricks? Also, does anyone know who directed it? I totally forgot to look it up!
