Okay, 'Die Hard' Just Blew My Mind (First Time Watching!)

Alright, so I finally got around to watching 'Die Hard.' I know, I know, I'm like 30 years late to the party. But seriously, wow. I went in completely blind, only knowing it was an action movie that everyone loves. Didn't even know who directed it (I'll have to look that up later). The basic plot is this dude John McClane, a cop, goes to see his wife at her work's Christmas party in this HUGE skyscraper, and then BAM, terrorists take over. I was NOT expecting it to be THAT intense. Dude's literally crawling through air ducts with bleeding feet. So gnarly! Bruce Willis is a total badass, even though he spends half the movie looking like he's about to pass out from exhaustion. And Alan Rickman? What a villain! Ice cold. Seriously, the scene where he falls from the building? I actually gasped. Also, bonus points for the cop on the ground floor, Al. Their radio conversations were surprisingly touching amidst all the explosions and machine gun fire. I really thought Al was going to die there at the end - was holding my breath the whole time. I did think some of the special effects looked a little dated (obviously, it's an old movie!), and the whole 80s thing is super cheesy, but honestly, it adds to the charm. Like, the hair. The clothes. The over-the-top bad guys. It's gloriously ridiculous. I can totally see why people still talk about this movie. So yeah, color me impressed. 'Die Hard' definitely lives up to the hype. I'm officially a convert. Now I gotta watch the sequels, I guess? Are they any good, or should I just leave it at this one? Let me know what you guys think!
