Who Framed Roger Rabbit - Still Holds Up!

Okay, so I finally rewatched 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' after...wow, probably 15 years? I was a kid when it first came out and remembered bits and pieces, mostly Jessica Rabbit being, well, Jessica Rabbit, and Judge Doom being absolutely terrifying. And yeah, both of those things still ring true. But revisiting it as an adult, I was really struck by how clever the whole concept is. Like, the blending of live-action and animation still looks pretty seamless even now, which is insane considering when it was made. Not to mention the cameos! Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse actually sharing screen time?! My mind was blown all over again. I think what I appreciate most now that I'm older is the noir-ish detective story underneath all the Toon silliness. Bob Hoskins is fantastic as Eddie Valiant, the washed-up, hard-drinking PI. And the whole mystery surrounding Marvin Acme's murder and the potential for the Toon Town Expressway is actually a pretty compelling backdrop. It's not just a kids' movie, that's for sure. I wonder if kids today really grasp the more adult themes or just enjoy the wacky characters. Probably a mixed bag, right? Judge Doom, though. Seriously, still gives me the creeps. Christopher Lloyd just nailed that role. And the reveal at the end? Ugh. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who somehow hasn't seen it, but let's just say it involves shoe dip and a whole lotta evil. Anyway, yeah, if you haven't seen it recently (or ever!), definitely worth a watch. It's got something for everyone, even if it's just Jessica Rabbit's uh...assets. Just a random thought, but imagine seeing something like this in theaters back then. Must have been mind-blowing! Anyone else remember seeing it on the big screen? Also, does anyone know why the director is listed as unknown? It's Robert Zemeckis, right?
