Okay, The Naked Gun is Officially Hilarious (First Time Watcher)

So, I finally caved and watched The Naked Gun. I know, I'm late to the party, right? I always heard it was funny, but man, I wasn't prepared. I knew it was a comedy but I didn't expect it to be that absurd. Like, the scene where Frank Drebin is trying to "blend in" at the baseball game and keeps ending up in the dugout getting into fistfights? I was dying. And the whole thing with him literally walking into the wrong rooms in the hotel? Genius! Leslie Nielsen is a legend, I get it now. His deadpan delivery makes everything 10x funnier. Priscilla Presley as Jane Spencer was perfect too – she plays the straight (wo)man to his wacky so well, and their "romantic" scenes were just... wow. Like, I kept expecting it to be over the top and it went beyond that every time. I have to admit, the plot itself isn't anything groundbreaking – assassination attempt on the Queen, blah blah blah – but it's seriously just a vehicle for all the visual puns and slapstick. Some of the humor is definitely... dated. Like, I winced at some of the jokes, but for the most part, the sheer silliness of it all won me over. I'm glad I checked it out. Overall, a really fun watch! I might even pick up the sequels, though I heard they don't quite live up to the original? Let me know if you guys have any recommendations on which ones are still worth checking out if you love the original. I need something else to watch this weekend.
