"Big" - Still Holds Up (Kinda Creepy Tho?)
Okay, so I rewatched "Big" the other day, the one with Tom Hanks. It's been ages, and I remembered it being super fun and innocent. And it is, mostly. Josh Baskin is a kid in an adult's body, and that premise alone is gold! The scene in FAO Schwarz where he and the toy company owner are playing that walking keyboard with their feet? Hysterical! I was dying laughing, and I actually think that's one of the most iconic movie moments ever. I also loved how he was just, like, a good dude, even when he was an adult. It's like he never lost his kid-like wonder. The way he just approaches the world is so much fun and full of passion. I think that's why I was so drawn into his character. But, let's be real, some parts are kinda creepy now that I'm older. The whole romance thing with Elizabeth Perkins? Yikes. I get that she was into his personality but, like, she thinks he's a grown man! Knowing he's actually a kid makes it a little awkward. I mean, she's definitely older and a successful businesswoman, and he's... well, acting like a 30-year-old dude, but still a kid. It's a little messed up when you start to think about it too hard. I also was just kinda confused about how his best friend, Billy, found him so easily at work, but noone else did. He was HUGE!? Overall, though, I still think it's a really enjoyable movie. It's heartwarming and funny, and Tom Hanks is just amazing. It made me kinda nostalgic for being a kid again, even with all its weirdness. It's definitely still worth watching, even if you have to cringe a little at some of the… questionable relationship dynamics, lol. A fun watch if you want a laugh and a dose of nostalgia.
