Big... still holds up, right?! 🧸🤔
Okay, so I watched Big again last night with Sarah and omg, still so good! For those who haven't seen it (which... where HAVE you been?), it's about a kid who wishes he was 'big' and wakes up as Tom Hanks, basically. I know the director, Penny Marshall, isn't unknown, I just always forget her name, sorry Penny! Anyway, it got me thinking... does it still hold up for everyone else? I mean, the whole 'kid in an adult's body' thing could be kinda creepy if they leaned into it wrong, but Tom Hanks is just SO GOOD. Like, the FAO Schwarz scene with the giant piano? ICONIC. But Sarah was saying the romance feels a bit weird now, watching it with adult eyes. What do you guys think? Is it still a charming classic, or is it a bit...odd? And speaking of Sarah, we were also debating the ending! Does Josh (little Tom Hanks) make the right choice going back to being a kid? Part of me was like, 'Dude, you had a sweet job and a hot girlfriend!' LOL. But then again, imagine being 13 and trying to navigate that. So conflicted! What would YOU do? Also random thought - where can I get those oversized piano keys?! Seriously, need them for my apartment.
