Okay, so I just watched "A Fish Called Wanda"... Thoughts!

Alright everyone, Amanda here! Okay, so I finally got around to watching "A Fish Called Wanda." I'd heard it was a classic comedy, and, well, it was definitely...something. I think the kids would be HORRIFIED, so definitely a watch-after-bedtime kinda flick, which is fine by me honestly. I'm not sure I'd put it on my 'favorites' list, but John Cleese is always funny, even when he's playing a stressed-out lawyer. The basic plot is ridiculous: diamonds get stolen, everyone's double-crossing each other, and there's this super intense animal-loving hitman, Otto, played flawlessly by Kevin Kline. Honestly, Kline's performance is probably the best part of the movie. He's just so over-the-top and unpredictable. I gotta say, some of the humor is super dark, like legitimately dark. The whole scene with the dogs was...a lot. Like, I almost had to turn it off, it was so cringey. I get it's supposed to be comedic, but woof, I did not like that part at all. Jamie Lee Curtis is amazing as Wanda, obviously. She plays the femme fatale role perfectly, and the whole dynamic between her and Cleese's character, Archie, is pretty hilarious. It's just a really bizarre movie, and honestly, a bit dated. It's not something I'd probably watch again anytime soon, but I can see why people enjoy it. It's definitely got its moments of laugh-out-loud funny, even if it's mixed with some definite 'yikes' moments too. What did you all think? Am I the only one who felt super uncomfortable during certain scenes?
