Halloween 4: Underrated Gem or Just Nostalgia Talking?
Okay horror freaks, let's talk Halloween 4! I just rewatched "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" last night, and I'm still kinda buzzing. Is it perfect? Nah, not by a long shot. But it's got a certain something that makes it way better than some of the later sequels (looking at YOU, Resurrection!). I mean, Danielle Harris as Jamie Lloyd? AMAZING. She absolutely KILLS it (pun intended, sorry!) as the traumatized niece. That dream sequence she has with Michael... chilling! And that mask... okay, some people hate on the mask, but I kinda dig it's simplicity. It's menacing in its own way. Plus, the score is just pure Carpenter-esque goodness, even if it's not actually Carpenter. My biggest gripe is honestly just the plot holes. Like, how does Michael escape that hospital AGAIN? We're just supposed to go with it, I guess! And some of the acting is a little... rough around the edges, let's say. But overall, the atmosphere is fantastic. The small town Halloween vibes are on point, and the suspense is genuinely well-done. I particularly loved the scene at the school, with Loomis going on a rampage warning everyone. Donald Pleasence always delivers. I know some people think it's overrated because it relies too heavily on the original, but I think it's a solid entry in the franchise. It brought Michael back to his roots (literally!), and it set the stage for some interesting storylines, even if they didn't all pan out perfectly. It also cemented the importance of Jamie as a character in the saga. So, what do you guys think? Is "Halloween 4" a worthy successor to the original, or is it just a product of 80s slasher nostalgia?
