Oliver & Company: Underrated Disney Gem!
Okay, so I was just watching Oliver & Company with the kids (again!), and I always forget how much I genuinely enjoy it. It's definitely not your typical princess-y Disney flick, which is probably why my son prefers it, haha. It's got this cool, kinda gritty New York vibe, and the music is SO good. I mean, Huey Lewis doing 'Once Upon a Time in New York City'? Come on! Instant classic. Dodger is just so cool, right? I remember wanting a street smart dog like that when I was little. And Oliver is just adorable, especially when he's first trying to figure things out. The animation might be a little dated now, compared to the newer stuff, but it still holds up really well, I think. Plus, the whole Fagin's gang is hilarious - Tito's energy is infectious. I do feel bad for Jenny though, she's so sweet and you can tell she really cares about Oliver. Honestly, I think it's one of those Disney movies that sometimes gets overlooked, maybe because it came out between the big renaissance movies (like Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast). But honestly? I like it almost as much. Anyone else feel the same way? What's your favorite part? For me, it's definitely the car chase scene - so over-the-top and fun. It's a little chaotic for my youngest, but my oldest thinks its hilarious. One little thing that always bugs me though - how did Fagin afford all those dogs' food, lol? He's supposed to be broke! Anyway, definitely recommend giving it a watch (or re-watch!) if you're looking for something the whole family can enjoy. Just be prepared to have 'Why Should I Worry?' stuck in your head all day! ;)
