Scrooged: Still Holds Up (and I Keep Noticing New Stuff!)
Okay, so I just rewatched "Scrooged" again (I think this is my yearly tradition now, haha) and every time I see it, I catch something new! This time, it was the details in the sets! Like, when Frank Cross is in the past with the Ghost of Christmas Past, you can see all the little 80s details so clearly. The clothing, the hairstyles, the furniture... it's so well done and REALLY pulls you in. And Bill Murray, of course, is amazing. I love how he walks that fine line between being a complete jerk and almost sympathetic. The scene where he's trying to apologize to Karen Allen's character, Claire, and he just can't quite spit it out... it's both hilarious and kinda heartbreaking. You almost feel bad for him, even though he's basically the source of his own misery! Also, Carol Kane’s Ghost of Christmas Present is terrifyingly hilarious, I forgot how much I loved her in this. I also noticed this time around how much commentary the movie makes about television and the media. It's almost scarily relevant today, with all the reality TV and sensationalism. They were really ahead of their time! Anyone else pick up on new things as they rewatch it? Or am I just late to the party, lol? One tiny thing that bugged me though: I swear, the Ghost of Christmas Future is seriously underdeveloped! He’s just… there. Kinda menacing, I guess? But could have been SO much more impactful. Still, love the movie overall! What's everyones fave scene?
