Cocktail: Is the Soundtrack Better Than the Movie? Discuss!

Alright folks, HughesReviews here. Let's talk 'Cocktail' (1988). Okay, so I'm not gonna lie, the movie itself... it's a bit cheesy, right? Young Tom Cruise being all cocky bartender, Elisabeth Shue lookin' radiant... the plot is kinda predictable. It's pure 80s fluff. But the soundtrack? That's a whole different story. Seriously, who else remembers blasting 'Kokomo' during road trips? And 'Hippy Hippy Shake'! It's pure, unadulterated summer vibes. I'd argue that the music elevated some pretty mediocre scenes. Like, Brian's bartending 'poetry' would be unbearable without the right backing track. There's just a certain energy in the score that the film itself lacks. Plus, I think that the score's really cool, and really gives that 80s vibe and feeling that would not be the same without it. I actually got into film scores because of this movie to be honest. Before this, I just cared about the songs. But who agrees that the music is the best part? Anybody wish they'd given him more to do with instrumental tracks? And which track do ya'll think is the most underrated from it? Let's hear your thoughts!
