Disturbing Twins! Anyone else totally freaked out by Dead Ringers (1988)?
Okay, fellow movie buffs, I finally got around to watching "Dead Ringers" (1988) the other night. Wow. Just... wow. It's definitely not one I'd recommend with the kids around, yikes! I knew it would be a bit dark going in, but I wasn't prepared for how truly unsettling it would be. I mean, it's about these twin Gynecologists who are, let's just say, not exactly all there in the head. I was particularly squirming during the scenes where they started creating those... instruments. Goodness! Gives me the shivers even thinking about it. Jeremy Irons is incredible though, playing BOTH twins! That's talent, right? I kept trying to figure out how they did all those scenes with him interacting with himself back then, it's so well done for the time. So my question is, did anyone else find the ending as intensely disturbing as I did? Without giving too much away, the way their codependency spiraled completely out of control was just so unsettling and sad. It's definitely stuck with me. I'm curious, what's everyone's overall thoughts? Was it just me that was so freaked out?? I could see why some might find it boring, but I was fascinated, though I'm not sure if I want to rewatch it anytime soon.
