Police Story 2: Okay, I screamed. A LOT.

Okay, so I finally got around to watching Police Story 2 and…wow. Just wow. My heart rate has only just started to return to normal. Seriously, Jackie Chan, are you TRYING to give me gray hairs? The stunts in this were INSANE. Like, the playground fight scene? I was literally yelling at the screen, "NO, JACKIE, PLEASE DON'T SLIDE DOWN THAT THING HEADFIRST!" My palms were so sweaty, I practically needed a towel. Also, the whole revenge plot from the first movie was kinda clever and kept things interesting. But seriously, the emotional rollercoaster in Police Story 2 was intense. I actually felt bad for the villains (for a split second) after they got beat up so much! AND May (Maggie Cheung)?! Her character development was surprisingly good. That scene where she and Ka-Kui are arguing in the apartment and she's SO frustrated with him putting himself in danger all the time? I felt that! It was kinda cheesy but so relatable? I'm dating myself here but I have a friend who's a cop and that scene made me think of him a lot! Honestly, I think I preferred the first Police Story slightly more because the plot felt a bit tighter, but this one definitely cranks up the action to eleven. And the end fight scene at the restaurant...holy moly. I literally covered my eyes at one point! It was too much! Maybe its just me being a lil' scaredy cat. I don't watch action movies so often! Overall, Police Story 2 is a wild ride. Some of the humor didn't land for me but the sheer audacity of the stunts and the surprisingly touching moments between characters make it a total win. 4 out of 5 buckets of popcorn. Just be prepared to clutch your couch cushions tightly.
