Tin Toy...Baby Terror, or Pixar Gold?

Hey all, moviebuff_marc here. Just re-watched "Tin Toy" after YEARS. I remember seeing it as a kid and being both terrified and fascinated. That baby, Billy...seriously, was he possessed? It's like a cartoon version of Damien from "The Omen" only with more drool and less devil worship. I get that it's playing on the toy's perspective, but still, kinda traumatizing for little Marc back then! Anyway, watching it now, I see the clear Pixar DNA. The animation, even for '88, is pretty remarkable. You can see the groundwork being laid for "Toy Story," especially in Tinny's expressions. All that said, I'm wondering if it's just nostalgia goggles, or does this short really hold up? I mean, the whole plot hinges on Tinny wanting affection from a destructive infant. Kinda messed up, right? It's like they took the "Velveteen Rabbit" concept but then threw in a Godzilla-esque baby. So, Gen X peeps, anyone else have mixed feelings about this one? Is it a groundbreaking piece of animation history, or just a slightly disturbing prelude to Woody and Buzz? Lemme know your thoughts!
