Fright Night Part 2: Regine's Leathers - Did I Miss Something?
Okay, so I just re-watched Fright Night Part 2 (yes, I know, I know, the original is chef's kiss but hear me out). I'm always hyper-focused on the costumes, and Regine's (Julie Carmen) outfits are KILLER. Like, legit vampire-diva-goth-glam. I'm obsessed with the head-to-toe leather look she rocks for most of the movie. Specifically, there's this scene when she's seducing Charley, and she's basically dripping in black leather, chains, and lace. It's such a stark contrast to the more... collegiate and preppy vibe Charley and Alex are sporting. Was there a reason for this extreme contrast? Was it just to show how dangerous and 'otherworldly' she was? I get that vampires wear darker clothing. But her costume felt particularly '80s rockstar. Also, anyone know where I can get a similar jacket? Seriously, I need one! And another thing, is it just me, or were some of the monster design choices a bit... quirky in this one? I thought the practical effects were great (honestly, better than some modern CGI), but the makeup when the group attacked felt almost theatrical, like they were styled to be grotesque characters with very exaggerated features. I was half expecting them burst into a musical number at some point; it was so over the top theatrical! I think the first film hit the gothic aesthetic perfectly. This sequel was fun, but how realistic was that costuming? Like, where did Regine buy her clothes? Did she have a costume designer following her around, because I want their number! Overall, I have questions and need answers!
